Return to the origins of the Quai des Berg
The final chapter of the 180th anniversary is a model that reinterprets classic elements in a modern way: Quai des Berg.
Quai des Bergues is named after the riverside street in the old town of Geneva. This is the place where François Czapek had his workshop, and it marks a return to the origins of Czapek, presenting the classic line of the orthodox Czapek brand.
Sulsum Korda No.33M
Three special models are being unveiled to mark the 180th anniversary: the Antarctic Tourbillon (the first in-house complication in the Antarctic collection), unveiled at Watches and Wonders; the Antarctic Plique-à-Jour, a modern interpretation of the Métiers d'Art; and the Time Jumper, powered by the Calibre 10 with its jumping hour mechanism. For the Quai des Bergs "Sulsum Corda," the brand returns to its historical roots, clearly reiterating the quest for beauty and refined simplicity that define Czapek.
No. 33 M
First launched in 2015, the Quai des Bergues collection derives from François Czapek's workshop on Rue des Bergues in Geneva, before he opened boutiques in Paris (Place Vendôme) and Warsaw.
The founders of the modern-day Capek Company delved deep into 19th-century archives and studied numerous historic pieces, including the 1850s pocket watch, Reference 5350.
The first mass-produced model born from this research, the Quai des Bergues No. 33, featured elongated Roman numerals, a Grand Feu enamel dial,
It faithfully reinterpreted the aesthetics of pocket watches, with an off-center small second and power reserve, and featured a 42.5mm case and a caliber developed in collaboration with Chronode.
In 2016, the Quai des Berg No. 33bis was awarded the GPHG Public Prize, symbolising the collection's successful combination of historical fidelity and contemporary Haute Horlogerie.
Since its inception, Quai des Berques has embodied the philosophy of "carrying on the 'beauty' that François Capek pursued, without attempting to define it." The coexistence of perfection and imperfection, timeless elegance and modernity, is its essence.
No. 25M
This 180th anniversary model of the Keddeberg is packed with all the elements into a size never before seen in the Czapek Keddeberg collection: 40.5mm. The structure remains symmetrical, and the sandblasted finish is a modern interpretation of the "satin frost" technique used in the 19th century.
It's a truly Capek-esque piece.
