Minase Watch 20th Anniversary Event

MINASE 20th Anniversary Fair | Collaboration with contemporary artist Towa Takaya and limited edition 20th anniversary model unveiled

"Manufacturing that will be talked about for 100 years" - MINASE's new expression that combines art and craftsmanship.

To celebrate the 20th anniversary of the independent Japanese watch brand MINASE, a fair will be held at Comptoine in Yoyogi, Shibuya Ward, to unveil a special art collaboration and limited edition models .
Through two special exhibits, one featuring artwork by contemporary artist Towa Takaya and the other featuring a 20th anniversary limited edition model that symbolizes MINASE's philosophy, visitors can experience the "Japanese beauty and craftsmanship" that the brand has cultivated.

About the MINASE 20th Anniversary Fair

MINASE, which was founded in a workshop in Minase, Akita Prefecture, has been creating unique timepieces that combine Japanese precision processing technology with the sensibilities of artisans since its debut in 2005, with the aim of "creating products that will still be talked about 100 years from now."

This year marks the 20th anniversary of MINASE, and it reinterprets its history as the "art of time."
The "MINASE 20th Anniversary Fair" will be held in Yoyogi, Shibuya Ward, as a venue to present a new relationship between craftsmanship and art.

This fair will express the "Japanese tranquility and beauty of form" that MINASE has pursued through two special exhibits: a collaborative work with contemporary artist Towa Takaya, and an exhibition and sale of a limited edition model commemorating MINASE's 20th anniversary.

Towa Takaya Art Work

■ Collaboration with contemporary artist Takaya Towa

Towa Takaya is a contemporary artist who has attracted worldwide attention for his work exploring the relationship between light and time.
"My main focus as a creator is to explore whether it is possible to expand our perception of the world through color, from the linguistic perception that humans can manipulate to the realm of non-linguistic perception. " Towa Takaya

In this collaboration, the watch has been reconstructed as art, in line with MINASE's philosophy of "sculpting time."

This exhibition will feature an installation that visualizes the concept of "time" through the contrast of materials, light, and shadow.
The combination of MINASE's sophisticated metal processing technology and Takaya's sensibility creates a space that seems to "breathe with time."

Yuusai Dial: The Art of Reflecting the Depths of Time
MINASE JAPAN ART COLLECTION

The "Yusai" dial is a new treasure from MINASE, created with the soul of contemporary artist Towa Takaya and Japan's proud watch brand MINASE.

"Yu" means eternal time
The character "Yu" symbolizes the eternal and leisurely flow of time. It transcends the concept of linear time, expressing the "depth of time" that is imbued with eternity and gently circulates. The colors engraved on the dial quietly yet richly tell the story of the infinite flow of time.

The aesthetics of "color" woven together by light and color
"Iro" (Color) refers to the delicate " fluctuation " and " multi-layeredness " of color itself. The colors reflect the moment they are exposed to light and change their appearance moment by moment depending on the viewing angle and environment, embodying the "aesthetics of fluctuation" that only time can bring about. The Yuusai Dial is a phenomenal art piece that allows you to experience the invisible richness hidden within time through the fantastic fluctuations created by light and color.

When this work of art is placed inside a watch case that emits the exquisite shine of MINASE's world-renowned Zaratsu polishing, it goes beyond mere timing and reaches completion as a magnificent " art of time " that embodies time itself.

A new perspective for artists and viewers <br>By bestowing a " new perspective " on viewers and entrusting both viewers and artists to the plateau of the vast world, and fusing contemplation and physics, a space for mutual exploration is created in the small microcosm of the dial, in the absence of the artist and viewer.

SEVEN WINDOWS ~Other ways of existing

The gradations of colors painstakingly layered on top of each other create a heavenly melody that blends fantastically with the light that shines through the MINASE "WINDOWS" structure. It evokes the fleeting yet beautiful presence of the sparkling water surface gently swaying in the breeze, and the cherry blossoms dancing in the spring breeze.

This pictorial space, entirely dyed in a deep blue , becomes an elegant and mysterious presence that accompanies the owner in their daily life. It is an eternal poetry encapsulated in a tiny canvas that brings deep peace to the heart and a rich experience that transcends time every time you look at it.

In order to embody a timeless philosophical proposition, our fateful collaboration with MINASE has come to fruition based on the grand concept of "a watch that allows you to experience the universal process of time itself."

The dial is a mystical gradation of layered colors. The delicate sparkle of the pearls interacts with this, creating a sense of floating in space, and a painting-like space with a mysterious depth that changes its appearance moment by moment depending on the viewing environment.

The work newly dedicated for this JAPAN ART COLLECTION is the culmination of a search that spans the aesthetic sensibilities of both East and West, and is deeply inspired by Japan's unique culture, stylistic beauty, and craftsmanship. With the full cooperation of MINASE, it took about a year of research to explore the limits of expression.

This marks the birth of a work of art that transcends time and space , a result of the miraculous combination of the two core themes that Minase has pursued for many years as an artist - the exploration of materiality and the creation of time and space - with Minase's unparalleled processing technology and the unwavering aesthetic of "maximizing the potential of watches" that underlies the JAPAN ART COLLECTION .

About MINASE

MINASE is a Japanese luxury watch brand that was born in Minase Village, Akita Prefecture.
The process of skilled craftsmen hand-finishing each watch is like creating a work of art.
It is characterized by its meticulous attention to detail, such as the unique case structure known as the "MORE structure" and "Zaratsu polishing" which perfectly reflects light.

At the heart of this philosophy is the idea that "watches are not just made and then finished, but are polished, passed down, and talked about for generations."
MINASE is not just a tool for measuring time, but is highly regarded by watch enthusiasts around the world as a brand that " designs time itself ."

The art of time, carved by the spirit of the artisan

MINASE is a unique watch brand that was launched in 2005 by bringing together the wisdom of Kyowa Seiko, a leader in high-precision cutting tools.

The unshakable foundation for this is the pinnacle of cutting and polishing technology that Kyowa Seiko is proud of. Utilizing this unparalleled strength, we pursue "things that only we can create." And, sparing no effort or time, we pursue the ultimate "level of perfection" that can never be achieved by the common sense of mass production - this is the monument of MINASE.

Comptoine, an authorized watch and jewelry dealer (151-0053, Nishisando Terrace E1, 28-7 Yoyogi 4-chome, Shibuya-ku, Tokyo)

We continue to hone our skills every day as an atelier that connects the wisdom of the past with the possibilities of the future.

Comptoine - An atelier where time quietly passes.

An atelier that weaves time and beauty Comptoine, a watch and jewelry atelier, is located in a quiet residential area of Yoyogi.

The name "Comptoine" is a combination of the "Continuous Concept" technique, known from Patek Philippe's 3588/2, which connects the bracelet to the case, and the French phrase "Où il ya un comptoir de travail," which means "a place with a work desk ." We place the value of handcrafted work above all else.

Each circular graining, engraving, and jewelry decoration is carefully finished, taking time to complete, as if arranging knitting, at the work desk with a chisel in hand.

Each piece is imbued with a visible beauty and warmth that cannot be achieved through machine finishing.

Even when it comes to work like battery replacement or overhaul, our hands do not simply repair the watch, but begin with the decision to protect the life of the watch or jewelry. We assess the age, material, and even aging, and provide the optimal treatment while preserving the original as much as possible. This is Comptoine's "Continuous Concept - steady work in the pursuit of perfection."

Our atelier's mission is to continue producing "the collision of next-generation philosophy and art, and the connection of traditional techniques to the future."
